MIND & BODY DAYS
It is all too easy to just pay attention to our over-active minds and forget all about the rest of our body. But there is an abundance of scientific evidence that shows that the body is not just an add-on for the thinking mind.
For example, we now know about the direct connection between the head, the heart and the gut via the Vagus nerve. We also know about the gut brain (a single cell lining along the entirety of the gut, which at 8.5 metres makes the gut brain a powerful force even though it is only one cell thick). To really get the most out of life, we need to look after our body in it’s entirety and not just from the neck up. I am therefore teaming up with some local body practitioners to help us explore further. Tai Chi / Qi Gong and Yoga are both profound physical spiritual practices (the one originating in China and the other in India) and Nordic walking is simply a fantastic way to keep toned, fit and healthy.
I am delighted to say that three expert practitioners have agreed to come and share their expertise with us over three separate days as follows:
- Sat 05 May – Tai chi / Qi Gong with Michael Henley who has been teaching Chinese martial and healing arts for 30+ years;
- Sat 09 Jun – Yoga with Lisa Bransden, a trained nurse who also has a thriving local yoga practice;
- Date TBA – Nordic Walking with Natalie Duff, who is passionate about the health benefits of this active walking style;
Your body will thank you!
The daily programmes are not written in stone but will go something like this:
Activity of the day: – Qi Gong, Yoga or Nordic Walking – with our expert practitioner (approx. 1 hour)
Break: Chat, snack, relax
Late Morning: Quiet time followed by an exploration of our Mind-Body connections with Christine Smith (approx. 1 hour)

I have been profoundly interested in what makes us tick as human beings for the last 30 years. This exploration has seen me qualify as a Homeopath, a Reflexologist, and a Teacher and I have delved deep to follow my own spiritual path.
Some years ago I came across The Three Principles as expressed by Sydney Banks and therein discovered a profound explanation of how our thinking can take over our lives completely. At the same time I have also trained with William Bloom as a Spiritual Companion and find that a new way of looking at life is emerging from many quarters. I now feel called to share these understandings as a spiritual support and benevolent presence for others.
